a series of films that explore
the various roles of libraries in society
in the Library Science Film Festival
hosted at New Haven Free Public Library
January 24-26, 2012
 
The following films will be screened at the Main Branch:
 
Tuesday, Jan. 24
6 pm: Hollywood Librarian: A Look at Librarians Through Film
(2007, 96 min.)
Featuring author Ray Bradbury
 
Wednesday, Jan. 25 
4:30 pm: Out Of Obscurity (2000, 40 min., documentary)
   In 1939 five young men protest in favor of opening Virginia public library
to African Americans
6 pm: Storm Center (1956, 85 min.)
Bette Davis is small-town librarian who fights book banning.
 
Thursday, Jan. 26 
 6 pm: Desk Set (1957, 103 min).
Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy spar over tech "improvements" 
 in a metropolitan newspaper library.
 
There is no charge and free parking is available after 4 pm
No registration is required!
